Approach to client specific treatment

The approach to treatment in this practice is one of openness and empathy. The goal of counseling is to help process current or future areas of your life that you would like to change. Much of the work done in counseling is through conversation, education and being in a space where you are able to be open about your feelings and hopes for the future.

EMDR

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is type of treatment used in therapy that directly works with how memories are stored within the brain. With this type of therapy clients are enabled to heal from the emotional and physiological symptoms that are the result of disturbing and traumatic life experiences.

During a structured EMDR session clients focus briefly on their trauma while utilizing bilateral stimulation. This allows for a reduction in the physical and emotional responses associated with the even that occurred.

The following therapists have training in EMDR and utilize it within their sessions when appropriate. Carrie, Zoe and Bryce.

PTSD. TRAUMA. ANXIETY. DEPRESSION. OCD. TRANSITIONS.

Every transition big or small is a change. In this practice we have compassion for who you are and where you are at in your life. Our goal is to help you get more clarity in your life and learn to be in both a better internal and external space. SLEEP...WHERE ARE YOU???

One of the biggest complaints we hear from people has to do with being unable to fall asleep, stay asleep or feel rested in the morning.

Sleep is a necessity in order to have you functioning at your fullest.

Sarah has a certification in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) and works with people on a structured 4-8 week program to help them learn to sleep naturally again.

This program is clinically proven to work. Isn't it time for you to get some zzz's again?

GRIEF. LOSS. BEREAVEMENT.

These three words are powerful. You never know how you will react to the loss of a loved one until is happens. Several of our therapists are trained in helping support people who have lost a significant person in their life. Through therapy your clinicians can help you process your feelings and get a better understanding of what your world is like now. Sarah, LeAnn, Sharmy and Carrie all have extensive experience in this area.

Psychological testing for ADHD and Autism

Psychological testing involves the use of standardized tools and techniques to assess various aspects of a person’s mental health, behavior, cognitive abilities, and personality. It can help diagnose conditions, guide treatment, and provide insight into strengths and challenges.

The testing process may include:

- Interviews to gather background information and history.

- Standardized questionnaires or surveys.

- Cognitive tests to measure abilities like memory, problem-solving, and attention.

- Behavioral assessments to understand patterns of action and reaction.

- Other specific tools depending on the referral question or concerns.

Shoreline Counseling, LLC is an outpatient mental health group practice.
